Our origins
In 2007, the law firm of Gerald & Lawrence Blumberg, LLP celebrated its 30th anniversary. Our roots actually stretch across 70 years of legal practice. In 1937, during the Great Depression, our founding partner, Gerald Blumberg left a secure government legal position (head of the Appeals Division of the New York State Mortgage Commission) and opened his own law office.
In 1977, Lawrence S. Blumberg also concluded three years with the government (Consumer Protection Attorney at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC) to join Gerald’s law practice. Together, they established Gerald & Lawrence Blumberg.
In 1992, Lois Tilton joined the firm as Counsel. In 1996, she became a partner.
During the past thirty years, we have deliberately limited the size of the law firm in order to provide the highest level of personal service to our clients. Our partners, Larry Blumberg and Lois Tilton (Gerald Blumberg retired several years ago at age 90 and recently died at age 97), personally meet with each client and maintain the relationship. Our firm employs several associates, paralegals and support staff, and has close relationships with a number of with attorneys in our office who provide additional services and expertise for our clients.
